I know a few people who watch me are not American, and thats okay, if July 4th doesn't interest you I'll be fine with this being ignored. XD It's not a rant or anything to that effect anyways! But to holidays as a whole.

So, I spent my fourth with family, close only. Mom, Dad, Bro, and S-i-L. We went to a place not far over the state line and is one of many state parks in Alabama which are worth seeing, at least in my opinion.

Well, I guess the day started out oddly since we painted the kitchen til two or three in the morning. I think I caught a nap, some... what of a nap. My power randomly blinked and woke me up a few times. (Weird) And we got up and went out to eat. Place had a damn good burger. Mmmmm. XD

Anyways, the canyon is actually a pretty difficult trek, I wouldn't do it again in flip flops, or tripp jeans. I'm not sure I'd want to walk those paths in shorts though, talk about hell if you fell or found briars! None of the paths there are all that clear cut and you have to make a bit of a climb down. So, yeah, I never made it down to the biggest pooling area. Maybe nexttime, (there has to be a next time XD). Though, the actual next time we go they plan on going to Cloudland Canyon.

BTW: You can find pictures of both these state parks here on DA, and some very nice shots at that! I would have had some of my own - but my camera batteries were dear. (Still don't think anyone has put them on charge)

My point being, over all this fourth cost us money to eat out and some gas. And it was definatly more enjoyable then being huddled in a house with a lot of people or sitting on my ass waiting for someone to finish grilling food. Outside most the time none the less.
It's probably the first time I've really done something on the fourth since my greatgrandmother passed, the fourth was her birthday as well.

I don't think I'll ever like christmas gatherings or birthdays half as much as I enjoy a lot of other things. The simple things that create memories that don't come in the form of an expensive gift or an extentive meal. Though, don't get me wrong, I adore home cooked meals. Especially when they are done with someone in mind so they can really enjoy a day down to even the things they drink.

OMG, my uncles birthday passed and my mom's is soon as well. I'll be a year older soon, bleh!
